Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi voiced concerns during her participation in the sixth phase of general elections, alleging efforts to tamper with the voting process. Atishi accused Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena of orchestrating a meeting with Delhi Police officials to intentionally slow down voting in areas identified as strongholds of the INDIA bloc.

Stating that they had received official information about the meeting, AAP leader Atishi emphasized the gravity of such actions, highlighting the threat they pose to the principles of free and fair elections. She called upon the Election Commission to intervene and address the matter promptly.

Atishi cast her vote in New Delhi’s Kalkaji area, where AAP’s Somnath Bharti competes against BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj. Encouraging voter turnout, she emphasized the significance of every citizen’s participation in the democratic process.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal echoed Atishi’s concerns, urging the Election Commission to ensure the smooth conduct of voting in Delhi.

Responding to the allegations, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena vehemently denied the accusations, labeling them as “unwarranted & false.” He asserted that such claims were intended to mislead voters and undermine the democratic process, vowing to take stringent action against any impropriety.

The sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls includes pivotal constituencies, notably all seven seats in Delhi, where AAP, Congress, and BJP engage in a fierce battle for electoral supremacy. With AAP and Congress jointly contesting against BJP, which has previously dominated the capital’s Lok Sabha seats, the electoral landscape is fraught with anticipation. The contest underscores the broader dynamics of the INDIA bloc, with both opposition parties striving to challenge BJP’s hegemony.
