After uncovering irregularities and alleged misconduct by BJP’s Anil Masih, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress jointly held a robust demonstration in Sector 17 and lodged a complaint at the Sector 17 Police Station.
AAP leader Prem Garg asserted that, following the perceived assault on democracy, the final decision regarding the mayor would now rest in the legal system. Nevertheless, he emphasised that the ultimate verdict would soon be in the hands of the public during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Prem Garg highlighted Anil Masih’s admission in an interview to a channel, where he acknowledged not notifying AAP’s polling agent Dhingra or BJP’s Joshi before announcing the mayor’s decision. Garg questioned the justification behind calling the election agent to display the ballot after declaring the result, considering Anil Masih’s statement as evidence of wrongdoing.
He criticised the administration for not taking action and emphasized that such an incident is unprecedented in the history of democracy, calling it shameful. Garg urged the administration to safeguard democracy in India by declaring the mayoral elections unconstitutional.
