The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised concerns about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s health, alleging that he has lost eight kilograms since his arrest on March 21. According to a report by PTI, the medical board at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) recommended adding ‘parathas’ and ‘puris’ to his diet to address the weight loss.
AAP’s statement detailed that Kejriwal weighed 70 kg on the day of his arrest, but his weight had dropped to 63.5 kg by June 2, when he returned to Tihar jail after the end of his interim bail granted by the Supreme Court. His weight further decreased to 62 kg by June 22. “The AIIMS medical board, in response to the Chief Minister’s continued weight loss, has advised including parathas and puris in his diet,” the party’s statement said.
The party also mentioned that while the AIIMS medical board conducted several blood tests for Kejriwal, they have yet to perform tests for heart conditions and cancer. AAP pointed out that doctors from Max Hospital had suggested these additional tests due to his significant weight loss.
After his interim bail ended on June 2, Kejriwal sought an extension of another week to complete the recommended medical tests. However, the Supreme Court denied the extension. On Thursday, a city court granted bail to Kejriwal in the excise policy case, but the Delhi High Court stayed this order on Friday. The stay will remain in place until the court issues its decision on the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) plea to suspend the bail.
Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain of the High Court vacation bench stated that it would take two to three days to pronounce the order on the ED’s application for a stay.
