The Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested three people, including a nursing staff member and chemist, for black marketing of remdesivir injections.
Police officials had intercepted two people at a check post in the Kalewadi area of Pimpri Chinchwad and recovered two remdesivir injections from their possession. The two were identified as Krishna Patil, who works as nursing staff at a private hospital, and Nikhil Neharkar, a delivery boy. Both failed to produce valid documents to procure/carry remdesivir injections with them.
During primary investigation it was found that they had procured the injections illegally from a chemist running a medical shop called Ayushri Medical, to sell at a higher price on the black market. The police have also detained the chemist, identified as Shashikant Panchal, and recovered 19 injections which were hidden under the seat of his car and meant to be sold on the black market.
All three accused have been arrested and a total of 21 injections have been recovered from their possession. Further investigation is underway.
