New Delhi is all set for the nation’s grand Independence Day event, with the historic Red Fort hosting the symbolic annual ceremony

While many think it’s the 78th year of freedom, the count starts from 1947, making 2025 the 79th Independence Day celebration

The day starts with NCC cadets and My Bharat volunteers assembling, setting the stage for one of India’s most significant annual national events

The Guard of Honour will take position, followed by the ceremonial arrival of dignitaries and final preparations for the Prime Minister’s entry

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive through the Lahore Gate, received by top defence and government leaders, before proceeding to the Saluting Base

The PM will unfurl the tricolour, with a 21-gun salute and flower petals showered by Indian Air Force helicopters marking the moment

Following the hoisting, the PM will deliver his Independence Day address, reflecting on achievements, history, and India’s path forward

NCC cadets and My Bharat volunteers will lead the National Anthem before balloons are released, symbolising India’s aspirations soaring high

While the official Red Fort ceremony ends at 7:45 AM, Independence Day festivities will continue across the country throughout the day
