Men Climb Dargah With Saffron Flags on Ram Navami, Chant Slogans: Police

A group of men carrying saffron flags caused a stir in Prayagraj on Sunday by climbing onto the roof of the Salar Masood Ghazi Miyan Dargah in the Sikandra area during Ram Navami celebrations. The incident took place in the Ganganagar zone and has since gone viral through a widely shared video.

Viral Video Shows Saffron Flag Display at Dome

Visuals showed three men scaling the dome of the dargah while others gathered below and chanted slogans. All of them held saffron flags and shouted slogans near the sacred site. According to reports, the group arrived on motorbikes and fled before police could arrive.

Leader Shares Video, Calls for Dargah’s Removal

Manendra Pratap Singh, who posted the video on Facebook, identified himself as a student leader at Allahabad University and former Karni Sena state president. His Facebook profile also labels him a BJP leader. In his post, Singh wrote that Salar Masood Ghazi was an “invader” and called for the dargah’s demolition, stating it should not exist in the pilgrimage city of Prayagraj.

Police Respond and Begin Investigation

Police have taken cognizance of the video and initiated an investigation into the matter. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ganga Nagar) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat confirmed the incident to news agency PTI. “Some miscreants waved saffron flags and raised slogans at the dargah,” said the officer.

Officials Face Action for Lapse in Security

The DCP said departmental action is underway against police personnel who were responsible for maintaining order at the site during the incident. He confirmed that there are five shrines at the dargah where both Hindu and Muslim devotees come to offer ‘chadar’.

“Legal action will be taken after investigating this matter,” Gunawat assured.
