Aamir Khan caught his fans and the media by surprise on Thursday by bringing his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, with him to a pre-birthday party in Mumbai. The actor, celebrating his 60th birthday on Friday, brought Gauri with him to interact with the media and even spoke about her.
Who is Gauri Spratt?
Gauri, a Bangalorean, is the daughter of Rita Spratt, owner of a city salon. Gauri spent her childhood in Bangalore before moving to Mumbai. Gauri studied at Blue Mountain School and later joined a course in fashion at the University of the Arts, London, for FDA Styling & Photography in 2004.Gauri currently has a BBlunt salon in Mumbai, as per her LinkedIn profile.
In the interaction with the media, Gauri also announced that she is co-working with Aamir in his production company. She has a six-year-old son and has been known to Aamir for 25 years. Their relationship in love started 18 months earlier.
Low-Profile Relationship
Aamir’s biggest surprise revelation was that Aamir and Gauri had been a couple for 18 months. The star quipped, “Dekha kuch bhi pata nahi chalne diya maine tum logo ko (See, I did not let you get a whiff of this).” Even though there were rumors of Aamir going out with someone from outside the acting world, the couple kept mostly in the background. Aamir said Gauri was staying in Bangalore, and this made their relationship less visible to the media. “She used to stay there until recently. So, I would travel down to see her, and the media attention is less there,” he said. He further added that when Gauri came to Mumbai, he introduced her to his family and children, and he joked, “Mere ghar pe focus thoda kam hai. Aap log miss kar dete ho (The focus is not as much on my house. You guys miss things).”
Aamir, who is turning 60 on March 14, said that he has arranged for a family dinner and lunch with friends to celebrate, and Gauri will be there too. His next film, Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual follow-up of Taare Zameen Par, is due out this summer.
