Arvind Kejriwal’s Old Video Resurfaces: ‘Modiji Can’t Defeat Us in This Lifetime’

An old video featuring Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has surfaced on social media after his party lost the Delhi assembly elections. In the clip, Kejriwal is seen saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could never defeat AAP in this lifetime and would need to be reborn to do so.

The video, that originated from a 2023 AAP workers’ conference in Delhi, shows Kejriwal saying: “Their intention is to topple the AAP government, and Narendra Modi ji wants to form a government in Delhi this way; they know they can’t defeat us through elections. I want to tell Narendra Modi ji that you cannot defeat us in this life, and you will have to take another birth to defeat us in Delhi.

BJP and Netizens React to Kejriwal’s Old Remarks

The Delhi BJP unit posted a funny clip of the video on X (formerly Twitter), edited with humorous reactions. Their post, captioned “Ab aaya swad?” (How does this taste?), seemed to mock AAP’s electoral loss.

The people also had their say over the statement Kejriwal gave, most of whom termed AAP’s loss to over-confidence. A social media user noted, “Ab es Janam main tum jail se bahar nahi aa sakte” (Now in this lifetime, you won’t come out of jail).

Delhi Election Results: Historic BJP Win

The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to form the government in Delhi after a closely fought election against AAP and Congress for the first time in 26 years, managing to secure 48 assembly seats.

AAP faced heavy losses, and some of its prominent leaders lost the elections: Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Satyendar Jain. However, Chief Minister Atishi won Kalkaji assembly seat defeating BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri. In the election, Congress did not win a single seat.
