This year’s 76th Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path introduces several firsts, thereby adding to the grandeur of India’s 76th Republic Day. Notably, the tri-services tableau will highlight the spirit of “Jointness” among the armed forces. Furthermore, the display will recreate a synchronized battlefield scenario, featuring the indigenous Arjun battle tank, Tejas fighter aircraft, and advanced light helicopter, showcasing India’s military prowess.
The tableau’s theme, ‘Shashakt aur Surakshit Bharat’ (Strong and Secure India), underscores India’s military preparedness and innovation.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will also present a tableau called ‘Raksha Kavach’, highlighting multi-layer protection against multi-domain threats. For the first time, the Indian Army’s Battle Surveillance System ‘Sanjay’ and the tactical surface-to-surface missile ‘Pralay’ will be on display at the parade.
Showcasing Military Excellence
The Indian Army will present a mounted column, eight mechanized columns, and six marching contingents, with the 61 Cavalry leading the mounted column. Cutting-edge defense platforms, including BrahMos, Pinaka, Akash, T-90 Bhishma tanks, and multi-barrel rocket launcher system ‘Agnibaan’, will roll down the ceremonial boulevard. Other highlights include Sarath infantry-carrying vehicles (BMP-II), Nag Missile Systems, and the Bajrang light specialist vehicle.
Spectacular Tableaux and Cultural Performances
The theme of the parade is ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’ which celebrates 75 years since India’s Constitution came into force. Sixteen tableaux from the states and Union Territories and 15 from the central ministries and organizations would represent the heritage and development journey of India. The visual synthesis of ‘virasat’ and ‘Vikas’ would awe the spectators.
Adding a vibrant splash of color, 5,000 artists will perform over 45 dance forms in an 11-minute cultural performance titled ‘Jayati Jaya Mama Bharatam.’Moreover, this performance, stretching across the length of Kartavya Path, ensures that every guest fully experiences its grandeur and magnificence.
Param Vir and Ashok Chakra Awardees Honoured
Param Vir Chakra awardees Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retd) and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar (Retd) alongside Ashok Chakra recipient Lt Col Jas Ram Singh (Retd) were also present during the parade. The government awards the Param Vir Chakra for gallantry in the presence of the enemy, while it presents the Ashok Chakra for similar acts of valor performed outside the face of the enemy.
Indonesian Contingent Further Adds International Spirit
The Marching Contingent of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the Military Band of Indonesia’s Military Academy added an international zest to the parade. Notably, the contingents were constituted of 152 members, while the supporting members of the military band numbered 190. Furthermore, this depicts the cordial and harmonious relationship between the two nations.
What to Look Out for at Republic Day Parade 2025
Opening Ceremony: The parade is inaugurated with 300 cultural artists performing the traditional song of ‘Saare Jahan Se Achha’.
Flypast: A spectacular flypast will be represented by 40 Indian Air Force aircraft and three Dornier aircraft from the Coast Guard consisting of Rafale, Tejas, and Su-30 jets.
Daredevil Stunts: Captain Ashish Rana and Captain Dimple Singh Bhati lead the Corps of Signals’ daredevils in their thrilling display of skill.
Traffic Management: This day will have traffic restrictions, and metro services will be available in all stations to facilitate travel.
