HOPS FC secured their first point of the Indian Women’s League 2024-25 season after a 1-1 draw with Kickstart FC on Tuesday at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

Karishma Purushottam Shirvoikar (15′) put Kickstart in the lead early on. However, Gladys Amfobea (78′) scored in the second half to level the score. As a result, Kickstart remains in sixth place with two points from three matches, while HOPS sits in seventh place with one point from the same number of games.

Kickstart Starts Strong

Kickstart made an early impact, with Karishma and Renu Rani combining well in attack. Karishma had a chance but sent her shot wide. Nevertheless, in the 15th minute, she capitalized on a through ball from Renu, finishing at the far post to give Kickstart the lead.

HOPS Defend Well

As the first half continued, Kickstart maintained pressure. Grace Dangmei sent in a dangerous cross from the right, but HOPS goalkeeper Priti Sarkar was quick to clear the danger. Later, Renu thought she was through on goal, but a deflected pass from the referee stopped her in her tracks.

HOPS Find Their Rhythm

In the second half, HOPS adjusted their tactics and gradually gained more control of the game. Mamta played a give-and-go with Gladys near the Kickstart box, setting up a cross. However, none of the HOPS attackers were in the right position to finish the chance.

HOPS Equalize

With less than 15 minutes remaining, HOPS finally found the back of the net. Gladys received a pass into the Kickstart box and, despite the tight angle, fired the ball into the net to make it 1-1.

Close Call for Kickstart

In injury time, Kickstart nearly regained the lead when goalkeeper Priti Sarkar fumbled a routine cross. However, HOPS defender Aruna Bag was in the right place to clear the ball off the line and prevent a late goal.

Ultimately, the draw gave HOPS FC their first point of the season, showcasing their improved performance in the second half.
