Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his recent Mann Ki Baat address, celebrated the incredible growth of India’s startup ecosystem, particularly in smaller cities and remote regions. He highlighted a significant milestone—startup registrations in Nagaland surged by over 200% last year, showcasing the state’s entrepreneurial potential.
“In a state like Nagaland, the registration of startups has increased by more than 200 percent last year. Waste Management, Non-Renewable Energy, Biotechnology, and Logistics are the sectors in which the most number of start-ups are being noticed,” PM Modi stated.
Startups Flourish Beyond Big Cities
Marking the successful completion of nine years of the Startup India initiative, PM Modi emphasized that more than half of the country’s startups are now emerging from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
“Just a few days ago, Startup India completed nine years. It’s heartening to see that our startup culture is not limited to major business hubs but is flourishing in smaller cities,” he remarked.
Women Entrepreneurs Leading the Way
PM Modi highlighted the significant contributions of women entrepreneurs, especially in smaller cities, as a key factor in India’s evolving startup ecosystem.
Transformative Journey Over a Decade
Reflecting on India’s transformation into a startup hub, PM Modi said, “Ten years ago, entering the startup world was met with skepticism. Today, it is a hub of innovation and opportunity. Young people should believe in themselves and leverage the growing opportunities in India.”
Pixxel: A Space-Tech Milestone
The Prime Minister also praised Bengaluru-based space-tech startup Pixxel for launching India’s first private satellite constellation, Firefly. “This satellite constellation is the world’s highest-resolution hyperspectral satellite constellation,” he added, emphasizing the nation’s growing capabilities in the space sector.
A Call for Innovation and Growth
PM Modi urged the youth to explore and seize new opportunities, saying, “If you believe in yourself, your dreams will also soar to new heights.”
