A fire broke out at the MahaKumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday and the fire brigade teams were in the site to douse the fire.
On the 7th day of Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, a massive fire broke out in the fair area on Sunday.
According to reports, the fire broke out while food was being prepared in a tent. However, officials have not confirmed it. The fire spread to several tents, where gas cylinders exploded, and 20 to 25 tents were burnt down.
The fire broke out near the iron bridge on the road ahead of the Akhara, prompting the fire brigade to respond. The area has been sealed off, and the fire is at risk of spreading due to strong winds. No casualties have been reported so far.
The fire started in Sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh Mela has now spread to Sector 20 which includes the Geeta Press camp. As smoke filled the sky, chaos erupted, with reports suggesting that the Dharm Sangh camp was also affected. More than five decades camps are engulfed by flame, and the blaze continues to moving fast towards Sector 20.
The flame has also been seen the Geeta Press Gorakhpur camp, and as of now, it is still uncontrolled on fire.
More than a dozen ambulances and fire brigade vehicles have rushed to the scene, but the cause of the fire is still unknown.
