The Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) has now been extended to seven more airports. On January 16, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the service at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Cochin airports. This launch took place from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Convenient Immigration Process for Registered Travelers
Following the launch, Shah shared on X that the programme would allow registered citizens and OCI cardholders to bypass airport queues. Instead, they can quickly clear immigration by scanning their passports and boarding passes at e-gates. This makes the process far more convenient and efficient for travelers.

Previous Launch and Future Plans
Previously, the initiative was introduced at Terminal 3 of New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in June 2024. Looking ahead, the government plans to expand FTI-TTP to 13 additional major airports across the country.
What is FTI-TTP?
FTI-TTP aims to streamline the immigration process for international travelers. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the programme is designed to provide “world-class immigration facilities,” ensuring that international travel becomes both smoother and more secure.
Free Service for Indian Citizens and OCI Cardholders
Importantly, the service is currently free for Indian citizens and OCI passengers arriving from abroad. This initiative removes any financial barrier for eligible travelers, further promoting ease of travel.
A Step Towards ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ Vision
Moreover, the Ministry of Home Affairs highlights that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the programme is a significant step towards realizing the ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ vision.
Seamless Travel Experience for Passengers
In addition, a senior official from the Ministry of Home Affairs previously stated, “India is becoming an international hub. This programme ensures a smooth and effortless travel experience. Eligible passengers can now bypass regular immigration queues and use automated e-gates instead.” This reinforces the programme’s goal of making international travel more efficient.
