A routine amusement ride at Hyderabad’s Numaish exhibition turned into a terrifying experience on January 16 when a malfunction left passengers suspended upside down. The incident, which reportedly lasted several minutes, has sparked widespread concern about the safety standards of such rides.

Ride Malfunction Due to Battery Issues

Public Concern Over Safety Standards

The incident has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many questioning the adequacy of safety inspections for such rides.

  • “Do authorities inspect and approve rides each year? Public safety should be the priority,” asked one user on X.
  • Another suggested, “Officials should test the rides themselves to ensure proper safety standards are met.”

Concerns also extended to the potential health risks of being held upside down for an extended period. “This could cause serious medical issues. Are authorities even checking these rides?” wrote another user.

The incident has intensified scrutiny of the safety protocols at amusement parks and exhibitions across India. Many have called for regular inspections and clearances to ensure public safety. While the quick resolution of the issue prevented further mishaps, the event has highlighted the importance of stringent safety measures and regular checks to avoid such incidents in the future.

Numaish Exhibition Society officials assured the public that safety protocols are in place and that the rides undergo routine maintenance to prevent such occurrences.
