A major controversy has erupted at Bhagat Phool Singh (BPS) Women’s Medical College in Khanpur village, Gohana, after six senior MBBS students were expelled following allegations of ragging by first-year students. The expulsion has sparked protests by the senior students, who have denied the accusations and criticized the college administration for acting without a thorough investigation. Dr. Dheeraj, the Medical Superintendent of BPS Women’s Medical College, stated that the first-year students had lodged a formal complaint accusing their seniors of indulging in ragging. Acting on the complaint, the college administration formed a committee to investigate the matter.
Upon concluding that the allegations were valid, the administration expelled the six accused senior students. The expulsion, however, triggered strong reactions from the senior students, who staged a protest on campus. They alleged that the administration had rushed to judgment and punished them without conducting a fair and impartial investigation. To address the growing tensions, the college administration has scheduled a meeting for Thursday afternoon, inviting representatives from both sides to discuss the matter and seek an amicable resolution. Dr. Dheeraj emphasized that ragging would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“Strict action will be taken against students involved in such incidents to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all,” he said. The incident has brought the issue of campus discipline and the handling of ragging allegations into sharp focus, with questions being raised about the college administration’s approach and its commitment to fair inquiry. The Thursday meeting is expected to be a crucial step in defusing the crisis and restoring normalcy on campus.
