A murder investigation has been launched in County Cavan following the discovery of a woman’s body in a rural home near Ballyconnell on Saturday night. Gardaí (Irish police) were alerted to the incident at around 21:30 local time.
The deceased, a woman in her 50s and a mother of five grown-up children, was originally from the area. Her body remained at the scene overnight before being taken to Cavan General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Serious Injuries Reported
A man in his 60s, who was also at the scene, sustained serious injuries and is currently hospitalized in a serious but stable condition. Gardaí have confirmed that a man in his 30s was arrested at a separate location in connection with the incident.
Authorities have stated that they are not seeking any additional suspects at this time.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted to gather evidence. Gardaí are appealing to the public for assistance in their investigation.
Anyone who was in the Kilnavert area of Ballyconnell between 20:30 and 21:30 on Saturday is urged to come forward. Police are specifically seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, that may aid in their inquiries.
