Iran Unveils Underground Missile Facility Amid Rising Tensions

Amid growing tensions in West Asia, Iran has revealed a new underground missile storage facility. On Friday, Tehran announced it is producing “new special missiles,” according to reports. In a recent video, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) showcased Major General Hossein Salami and Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh. Notably, Hajizadeh described the facility as a “dormant volcano.”

Missile Operations and Development

Furthermore, reports says that the underground missile base played a role in Iran’s operations against Israel in both October and April. During an event in Abadan, Salami confirmed that the IRGC Aerospace Force is actively working on developing new missile technology.

Upcoming Military Drills

This announcement comes shortly after General Ali Mohammad Naeini’s warning. He revealed that Iran will conduct new drills this month, which will include demonstrations of “missile and drone cities.” Notably, Naeini mentioned that one of the facilities will store missiles, while another will house vessels in southern Iran.

Iran’s Military Strength Amid Setbacks

Despite recent setbacks, such as attacks on Iranian-backed forces and the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria, Iran remains determined to project military power. Salami emphasized, “Our deterrence has not been designed based on action from any other country.”

Israel-Iran Tensions and International Reactions

In addition, Israel struck Iranian missile sites and air defense systems in October, in retaliation for earlier Iranian attacks. Iran condemned these actions as a “clear violation” of international law, asserting its right to defend itself. Interestingly, the video was released just days before U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, which highlighted Iran’s resolve to stand firm in the region.

US Negotiations and Ceasefire Hopes

Meanwhile, US officials remain hopeful for ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas, with the aim of reaching an agreement before Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
