New Delhi witnessed another milestone in India-US relations as US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. During the meeting, Sullivan delivered a letter from US President Joe Biden, which PM Modi deeply appreciated.
PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to advancing the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership with the US. “The close cooperation between our nations benefits not only our people but also contributes to the global good,” Modi stated, as per a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) press release.
Advancing Key Areas of Collaboration
The leaders assessed the significant progress made in their partnership over the last four years, particularly in technology, defense, space, civil nuclear energy, clean energy, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence (AI). PM Modi recalled his productive meetings with President Biden, including their interaction during the Quad Leaders’ Summit in September 2024.
PM Modi expressed his admiration for President Biden’s enduring efforts to bolster the bilateral relationship, leaving an impactful legacy. Sharing his thoughts on X, Modi wrote, “The India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership has scaled new heights. I look forward to building upon this momentum for the benefit of our people and the global good.”
Meetings with Indian and US Officials
During his two-day visit, Sullivan also met with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Their discussions focused on enhancing bilateral, regional, and global cooperation. Jaishankar appreciated Sullivan’s personal contributions to strengthening India-US ties, sharing his gratitude in a post on X.
Additionally, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Sullivan to review progress in high-level dialogues, including defense, cyber security, and maritime security. The discussions underscored the shared commitment to addressing global challenges and advancing mutual interests.
