Star India batter, Virat Kohli could not stay calm when his wicket fell during day 2 of the Boxing Day test. Kohli, in a very fluent form so far, which included an unbeaten score of 36 runs scored off 86 balls, was booed by the Australian crowd after a runout sent him back to the dressing room. After initially remaining poised, the comment by a spectator at the other end seemed to upset Kohli as he walked back towards the dressing room. Kohli turned around, visibly upset, and started heading toward the fan. An official quickly intervened, placing a hand on Kohli’s shoulder and calming the situation, urging him to ignore the taunts and continue to the dressing room.

The booing Aussie fans should thank god that this Virat Kohli is in his bhajan-kirtan phase.

The incident follows Kohli’s confrontation with Australian player Sam Konstas on Day 1, where the two had a physical altercation, including a shoulder bump.
Kohli was fined 20 percent of his match fee for the incident, with some in the Australian media, including former cricketer Ricky Ponting, calling for a harsher penalty. On Day 2, the Australian crowd continued to boo Kohli, even when he was fielding on the boundary, leading him to gesture for louder boos. Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had a 102-run partnership, saw their dismissals give the Australians an upper hand in the match. India was at 164/5 at the end of Day 2 with Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja still at the crease.
