India Women secured a 115-run victory over West Indies in the second ODI at Kotambi Stadium. With this win, India takes a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised the team’s strong batting performance and the bowlers’ key efforts.
To begin with, India’s openers, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, gave a solid start with a 110-run partnership. Mandhana contributed 53 runs before getting out. Rawal, playing in just her second ODI, impressed with a blistering 76 off 86 balls.
Harleen Deo Shines with a Century
Next, Harleen Deo played a match-winning innings, scoring 115 off 103 balls, including 16 boundaries. Alongside her, Jemimah Rodrigues added a quick 52 off 36 balls. Together, they put on a 116-run stand for the fourth wicket. As a result, India finished with a total of 358/5, their highest score in Women’s ODIs.
Matthews Fights Hard for West Indies
Meanwhile, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews led the charge for her team, scoring 106 off 109 balls. However, India’s bowlers remained strong, with Priya Mishra claiming three wickets. Additionally, Rawal, Deepti Sharma, and Titas Sadhu each took two wickets. Ultimately, West Indies were all out for 243 in 46.2 overs.
Kaur Praises the Team’s Performance
In her post-match comments, Kaur said, “We did what we were expecting. The way our openers gave us the start, Harleen’s batting, and Jemi’s support were great. We had a decent total, and we trusted our bowlers to take wickets.”
Overall, India’s all-round performance helped them seal a comfortable victory in the second ODI.
