The political atmosphere in Delhi is heating up even before the official announcement of assembly election dates, with political parties engaging in a war of words. AAP convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made a significant allegation, accusing the opposition of attempting to buy votes in his constituency.
In a tweet posted in Hindi on the social media platform X, Kejriwal stated, “These people have already started the work of buying votes in my assembly. They are openly giving cash of Rs 1000 per vote.”
This is not the first time AAP has accused the BJP of engaging in unethical electoral practices.
Senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party have previously alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is deleting voters’ names from electoral rolls ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections to undermine Kejriwal’s chances of victory.
The New Delhi assembly constituency is gearing up for a high-stakes electoral battle. AAP convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is vying for a third term in the seat. Meanwhile, the Congress has fielded senior party leader and former CM Sheila Dikshit’s son, Sandeep Dikshit.
The BJP, on the other hand, is likely to nominate Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, setting the stage for a fierce three-way contest.
