The video, which appears to show Jenkins being questioned roughly, was shared by Russian journalist Alexander Sladkov on Telegram.

In the video, Jenkins, aged 32, is seen with his hands bound in tape or plastic, wearing military fatigues, and with dirt on his face. He speaks in broken Russian and English, stating, “I’m Australian. Oscar Jenkins. 32 years old… I study biology.” The footage quickly spread online, prompting further attention.

Prime Minister’s Response
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed concern over the video and confirmed that the government is investigating the situation. He emphasized that Russian forces often spread false information. “This is concerning news, and we’re working through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to provide support,” Albanese stated. Furthermore, he assured that the government would make representations to Russian authorities to assist Jenkins.

Meanwhile, Sladkov shared the video with a caption that reads: “Our biologist was caught from Australia.” He expressed concern, writing, “What is this guy doing? Who is this guy? I hope everything will be fine with the guy, trial, hard labour, everything as it should be. What is this guy doing here?”
