The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Commissionerate will investigate whether the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is responsible for the deadly fire that broke out in Bhankrota on Friday. The Commissionerate had proposed a cloverleaf interchange four years ago to connect the Jaipur-Ajmer highway with the ring road through Bhankrota, but no action was taken by the NHAI. Police investigations revealed that the fire started when an LPG gas tanker made a U-turn from Bhankrota towards the ring road, leading to the tragic incident.
Commissionerate ADCP (First) Kunwar Rashtradeep told that there is a populated area around the highway in Bhankrota, due to which there is a lot of pressure of vehicles in this area. Also, due to being a crowded area, there is a situation of jam here every day. Meanwhile, with the ring road reaching Bhankrota, the pressure of heavy vehicles in this area also increased. Vehicles plying on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway also started using the DPS cut at Bhankrota to go to Ring Road from this route, due to which the traffic jam in Bhankrota increased even more, due to which there was a situation of jam here during the day and the cases of road accidents also started increasing continuously. Because on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, to go from Bhankrota to Ring Road, drivers have to take a U-turn from the DPS cut, due to which not only the traffic is often disrupted, but the danger of road accidents also remains always there. In view of all these situations, the Commissionerate had sent a proposal to NHAI four years ago to build a clover leaf interchange road to connect the Jaipur-Ajmer highway to the Ring Road from Bhankrota, but the NHAI did not pay attention to this matter, due to which a horrific fire broke out in Bhankrota on Friday and 14 people died a painful death. Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said that the LPG gas tanker was coming from Ajmer to Jaipur, while the container that hit it was going from Jaipur to Ajmer. On Friday the LPG tanker was taking a U-turn from the DPS cut in Bhankrota to go to the ring road. At the same time, the container hit the tanker, due to which both the vehicles caught fire and with a loud explosion, 20 tonnes of LPG gas from the tanker spread on both sides of the road, due to which the heat of the fire spread in an area.
