With 11,610 fresh cases, India’s Covid-19 tally has climbed to 1,09,37,320, while the number of recoveries has surged to 1,06,44,858. The death count due to the viral disease has gone up to 1,55,913 in the country with 100 more fatalities reported in a 24-hour period. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has climbed to 1,06,44,858, which translates to a national Covid-19 recovery rate of 97.33%, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.43%. There are 1,36,549 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country currently, which accounts for only 1.25 per cent of its total caseload. 

Eighteen states and Union Territories, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, have not reported any death due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the health ministry said.

Meanwhile, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting to review in detail the progress of Covid-19 vaccination drive across the country and steps to accelerate the pace of vaccination. Plans to involve private sector healthcare facilities in a significant way in the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive were discussed, adding that this will enable registration of the population in the 50-year-plus category for vaccination.

Maharashtra reported 4,787 new Covid-19 cases and 40 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 20,76,093.  This is the highest rise in infections in 70 days. The state now has 19,85,261 total recoveries and 38,013 active cases. Death toll stands at 51,631.

Uttar Pradesh reported 67 fresh cases of the coronavirus and three deaths, pushing the infection tally to 6,02,410 and death toll to 8,707 while 226 patients were discharged in last 24 hours. The total number of active cases in the state is now 2,690 while 5,91,013 people have been treated and discharged.

Haryana reported 82 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally in the state to 2,69,322. With one death taking place in Hisar district, the total number of Covid-19 fatalities in the state rose to 3,041. The number of active cases in the state were 826, while a total of 2,65,455 have recovered. The recovery rate was 98.56 per cent.

In last 24 hours, Gujarat added 278 new positive cases, taking the total to 2.67 lakh. The state also recorded death of a positive patient from Ahmedabad city, taking death toll to 4,403.

Odisha’s Covid-19 caseload surged to 3,36,397 after 75 more people tested positive for the virus. The 75 new cases were detected in 17 of the state’s 30 districts, with 46 cases reported from different quarantine centres, while the remaining 29 are local contact cases.

Andhra Pradesh registered 51 new coronavirus cases and two more deaths, taking the state tally to 8,89,010 and toll to 7,165 deaths. The tally includes 8,81,238 recovered cases and 607 active cases.

Tamil Nadu reported 454 new Covid-19 cases and six more fatalities, taking the tally to 8,46,480 and the toll to 12,438. Recoveries outnumbered new infections with 462 people getting discharged, taking the cumulative number to 8,29,850, leaving 4,192 active cases.

Kerala reported 4,892 new Covid-19 cases, including 24 health workers, and 16 deaths, taking the total caseload to 10.16 lakh and the toll to 4,032.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 84 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 1,25,547. The tally includes 657 active cases and 1,22,939 recovered cases and death toll stood at 1,951.
