Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised two critical issues during the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament. In her address, she urged the Indian government to take a stronger stand against the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. Gandhi expressed concern over the growing violence against Hindu and other minority communities in the neighboring country. She called on the government to “raise its voice” and demand protection for these vulnerable groups, emphasizing that the Indian government must use diplomatic channels to ensure their safety.

Priyanka Gandhi’s remarks came after reports highlighted the worsening situation in Bangladesh, where there have been increasing incidents of violence targeting religious minorities. Gandhi’s statement reflected the growing unease in India over its neighboring country’s treatment of its minority communities.

In addition to this, the Congress leader also questioned the removal of a photo from the 1971 India-Pakistan war, which was displayed in Parliament but has recently been taken down. The image, considered iconic for its historical significance, depicts a crucial moment in the war that led to the creation of Bangladesh. Priyanka Gandhi demanded that the photograph be restored, urging the government to ensure that important symbols of India’s history are preserved in the Parliament.

The photo’s removal had sparked debate among lawmakers, with many feeling that such moments in history should be celebrated and acknowledged. Gandhi’s demand to reinstate the image was part of her broader call to uphold historical narratives that shape the nation’s identity.

As the session progresses, both of Gandhi’s concerns remain at the forefront of political discussions in Parliament. Her call for action on the Bangladesh minority issue and the restoration of the 1971 war photo underlined her commitment to safeguarding both the rights of minorities abroad and the integrity of India’s historical records.
