The opposition coalition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has announced its decision to boycott the Maharashtra government’s tea party scheduled for the eve of the winter session of the legislature.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve announced during a press conference in Nagpur on Sunday, stating, “Opposition MVA to boycott Maharashtra govt’s tea party.”
Danve emphasized that despite their limited representation in the assembly, the MVA would vigorously challenge the government on critical issues, particularly those affecting farmers. He expressed concern over the six-day duration of the winter session, calling it too short. Congress representative Vijay Wadettiwar echoed this sentiment, advocating for an extension of the session.
In a related development, twelve MLAs from the Shiv Sena are set to be sworn in as ministers during a cabinet expansion today. Shiv Sena MLA Bharatshet Gogawale confirmed that the oath-taking ceremony would commence at 4 PM, stating, “Oath ceremony will take place at 4 PM today. So, we have all come to Nagpur. Seven people are new (who will take oath as ministers) and five are being repeated.”
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, accompanied by his wife Amruta Fadnavis and state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, held a roadshow in Nagpur. During the event, Fadnavis remarked, “Nagpur city is my family and my family is welcoming me.”
