Gukesh recalled his parents’ thoughts: “I have been dreaming about this moment since I started my chess journey at about 7. but the dream was probably bigger for them than it was for me,” Gukesh said after his Thursday win.
His father, Rajinikanth, is said to have quit his job as an ENT surgeon to let Gukesh pursue his passion for chess. His mother, a microbiologist, then took charge of the family responsibilities, allowing her son to fulfill his dreams.
The other viral video is when Padma Kumari kissed Gukesh’s championship trophy after he handed it to her, which once again explains the deep love and pride she has for her son’s achievements.
