BJP Stalwart LK Advani Hospitalised

Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani was admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi on Friday. According to reports, the former Deputy Prime Minister is under observation, and his health remains stable.

Advani, who has faced recurring health issues, has been hospitalized several times this year. He was admitted to Apollo in July, just days after being discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, undivided India (now Pakistan), Advani began his political journey in 1942 with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He served as a pracharak (full-time worker) before joining the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), the political wing of the RSS, in 1951.

In 1980, following the dissolution of the Janata Party, Advani co-founded the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alongside Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Together, they played a key role in shaping the party’s ideology and expanding its influence across India.

A landmark in Advani’s political career was his leadership of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. His 1990 Rath Yatra, advocating for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya, mobilized Hindu nationalist sentiments and established him as a prominent mass leader.

Advani served as Deputy Prime Minister under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 2002 to 2004.
