Ever heard of a theme park that’s literally out of this world? Vietnam has one that recently sent the internet into shock because of its rather unique theme – COVID-19. That is, correct. The Covid-19 Park is situated within the Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Complex in southern Vietnam and made waves due to the amused reaction of one British tourist.
A 29-year-old from London, Ella Ribak, recently posted a video of the park that has gained people’s attention and laughter on social media. In her post, she said, “Does anyone know if this still exists? I love Vietnam so much; like, who creates a whole theme park dedicated to COVID-19?” Her video featuring the bizarre features of the park is now viral.

According to a commercial director Ella from Finsbury Park, the park is like a combination of weird and funny. It featured, for instance, such bizarre items as statues of pathogens pierced with vaccine syringes and a life-sized pathogen with googly eyes behind a cell. In an interview with The Mirror, she said: “It was such a weird experience.” She continued by mentioning the dystopian mood that could be experienced while entering with a large clock and sculptures behind the trees.
While wandering through the park, Ella and her friends couldn’t help but laugh, though they did note that local visitors seemed to take things seriously. “We kept looking to see if any Vietnamese people were laughing, but they all seemed quite serious,” she said. The juxtaposition of playful clay sculptures and pandemic-themed art made it difficult to know if the park was trying to be funny or serious. Reflecting on her visit, she noted: “It was really strange trying to figure out how serious the park was.
Yet, despite the whiff of oddity with this experience, Ella reports that she generally enjoyed her sojourn there. “Ultimately, we had a great time, even if we didn’t take it as it was meant,” she concluded.
