India observes a variety of bank holidays annually, including national events, regional festivals, and other significant occasions.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) determines the schedule for bank holidays, which also includes closures for Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) and specific limitations on account access for both public and private banks. Banks also follow mandatory closures on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as Sundays.
On these holidays, while physical bank branches remain closed, all online and digital banking services continue to operate. This ensures that customers can seamlessly handle financial transactions without any interruptions during these days.
December 2024: Bank Holidays Announced
