Amritpal’s Father and MP Sarabjit meet Jathedar at Akal Takht Sahib, Demand revocation of ‘Fakhr-e-Qaum’ honor from Badal

Tarsem Singh, father of Amritpal Singh, and Faridkot MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa today visited Sri Akal Takht Sahib to meet Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh. They presented a letter to the Jathedar, assuring him of the Panth’s support and urging him to make an unbiased decision regarding Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Tarsem Singh, who is also the President of the Punjab Organization, and MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa demanded that a meeting of Guru Panth representatives be called to discuss issues regarding Sukhbir Singh Badal and the Shiromani Akali Dal. They further suggested the constitution of a coordination committee to revitalize the Akali Dal and asked for the ‘Fakhr-e-Qaum’ honor conferred on Parkash Singh Badal to be withdrawn.

MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa stated that he visited Sri Akal Takht Sahib to discuss reports of surveillance on the children of Jathedar Sahibans. Assuring the Jathedar of the Panth’s unwavering support, he emphasized that any decision regarding Sukhbir Singh Badal should be made without external influence.

Khalsa also reminded that during the alliance between Akali Dal and BJP, it is during this time when Panth suffered the worst blow. He demanded no coercion and threats be handed out against the Jathedar reminding that the entire Sikh panth is standing with him.

Amritpal Singh’s father, Tarsem Singh, pointed out that Sukhbir Singh Badal had been declared “Tankhaiya” by Sri Akal Takht Sahib earlier. He urged the Jathedar to ensure that no decision is taken under any kind of external pressure and that Sukhbir Singh Badal should be given due punishment.

The leaders said that these steps are required for the dignity of the Panth and for redressing the grievances of the Sikh community.
