Overnight drone strikes launched by Ukraine have sparked fires in non-residential buildings across Russia’s Kaluga and Bryansk regions, local authorities reported on Sunday. Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of Bryansk, confirmed the attacks, stating that emergency services and firefighters were on-site to manage the fires, though he did not provide further details.

Vladislav Shapsha, the governor of the Kaluga region, also confirmed that a non-residential building in his area was set alight by a Ukrainian drone attack. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its air defense units had intercepted and destroyed 23 Ukrainian drones overnight, with 17 of those downed over Bryansk.

While the reports have not been independently verified, Ukraine has not provided any immediate comment on the incidents. Kyiv has previously explained that its drone strikes on Russian soil are aimed at disrupting key infrastructure used in Moscow’s military operations and are a direct response to Russia’s ongoing attacks on Ukrainian territory.
