Indian American Community Celebrates

With Republican candidate Donald Trump moving closer to victory, celebrations have erupted within the Indian American community. Videos have emerged showing people from various South Asian communities—Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and others—gathering outside the White House in Washington DC. They are seen celebrating and beating drums, expressing their joy at Trump’s possible return to the White House.

 

Trump’s Return and Harris’s Historic Bid

Donald Trump, who served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, is hoping for a return to office. His opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, is seeking to make history by becoming the first woman president in the US.

Fox News Projects Trump’s Victory

As of 12:30 pm IST, Fox News has projected that Donald Trump has won the 2024 presidential election. However, the official announcement is still pending. It’s important to note that 28 seats held by Democrats and 38 seats held by Republicans did not go to the polls this time.

The US Electoral Process

The US Electoral College consists of 538 votes, which includes 435 House seats, 100 Senate seats, and 3 seats from Washington DC. To win the presidency, both Trump and Harris need at least 270 electoral votes. This election is considered one of the most significant in recent US history.
