‘Selfie Nightmare’: Labourer Trampled by Wild Elephant In Maharashtra Forest

In a tragic incident in Maharashtra, a young labourer lost his life after being attacked by a wild elephant while attempting to take a selfie. The victim, identified as Srikant Ramchandra Satre, was visiting the Abapur forest in Gadchiroli with two friends on Thursday morning to catch a glimpse of the majestic animal. Unfortunately, this outing turned deadly, as Srikant became the target of the aggressive elephant.

A Day of Elephant Viewing Turns Fatal

Srikant, 23, had travelled from Navegaon to Gadchiroli district for cable laying work. The group learned of an elephant sighting in the Chittagong and Gadchiroli forest area, prompting them to take a break and enjoy a moment of adventure. As the trio explored the forest, Srikant attempted to capture a selfie with the elephant from a distance. Tragically, the elephant charged at him, resulting in a fatal attack.

Friends Escape Unharmed

While Srikant’s friends managed to flee the scene without injury, the incident has left them and the local community in shock. Wildlife encounters can be unpredictable, and this incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential dangers of getting too close to wild animals. The local authorities have been alerted, and wildlife officials are likely to assess the situation to ensure public safety.
