A photo of a passport, allegedly belonging to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s bodyguard, has gone viral on social media following Sinwar’s death. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported Thursday that Sinwar, the head of the Gaza-based militant group Hamas and the mastermind of the October 7 attack on Israel, was killed.

The viral image features the passport alongside various items, including money, Islamic texts, a Mentos pack, and a watch. Despite its widespread circulation, the authenticity of the photo remains unverified.

Reacting to Sinwar’s death, US President Joe Biden called it a “good day for Israel, for the United States, and for the world.” In his statement, he mentioned, “There is now the opportunity for a ‘day after’ in Gaza without Hamas in power, and for a political settlement that provides a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike. Yahya Sinwar was an insurmountable obstacle to achieving all of those goals. That obstacle no longer exists. But much work remains before us.”

Biden further noted that he would soon speak with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and other leaders to offer congratulations on the operation’s success. He added, “I will be speaking soon with Prime Minister Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders to congratulate them, to discuss the pathway for bringing the hostages home to their families, and for ending this war once and for all, which has caused so much devastation to innocent people.”
