Supreme Court Dismisses Petition on COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects

The Supreme Court of India dismissed a petition on Monday alleging that COVID-19 vaccines caused side effects such as blood clotting. A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra stated that the petition seemed to be an attempt to create unnecessary sensationalism.

Court Questions the Basis of the Petition

During the hearing, the court questioned the implications of the petition, asking what would have happened if the vaccine had not been administered. “We don’t want to rake this up; this is just to create a sensation,” the Chief Justice remarked. The court also inquired whether the petitioner’s lawyer, who had taken the vaccine, experienced any side effects. The lawyer responded that he had not suffered any adverse effects.

The petition was filed by Priya Mishra and others, challenging the alleged side effects of COVID-19 vaccines. However, the Supreme Court found no merit in the claims and opted not to entertain the case.
