Six thefts worth Rs. 84k reported in Panchkula over two days

To say that ‘the threat of automobile theft has never been severe in Panchkula’ would be an understatement as the city has become a habitual witness to such crimes happening on a daily basis. In the past two days, automobiles worth Rs. 84k have been stolen from various locations of the city in the past two days. All of this came to highlight when various complainants lodged FIRs under sections 303 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) across police stations, here.
According to information, the police said that, on October 1, the first complainant, Satyabhan, resident of Panchkula, informed that his motorcycle Splendorworth Rs. 15k was stolen while he was busy overseeing construction work in Panchkula Eco City. The complainant filed a FIR at the Chandimandir police station, here, on Tuesday, where he accused one of the labourers, identified as Pankaj, for doing the deed.
Recalling the incident, Satyabhan said that he had brought laborers from Majri Chowk to assist with the construction. During the course of the day theaccused suddenly disappeared. Shortly after, the complainant discovered that his motorcycle, which had been parked outside his house, was also missing. Suspecting Pankaj’s involvement in the theft, Satyabhan made several attempts to locate him but was unsuccessful. Ultimately, this led the complainant to inform the police.
The second complainant was identified as Akshit Sharma, a resident of Mohali, who got his active worth Rs. 15k stolen from Mata Mansa Devi Complex, here, on Tuesday. The complainant lodged a FIR at the Mansa Devi Complex station, on Tuesday.
Akshit said that he had parked his scooter at the Mata Mansa Devi Mandir parking area around 1:30 PM, conveniently located in front of the Vita Booth.Upon returning to the parking area at approximately 2:30 PM, Akshit was dismayed to discover that his scooter was missing, leading him to inform the police.
The third complainant was identified as Birbal Jhajjar a resident of Sector 12, who got his Splendor worth Rs. 12k stolen from Sector 5, on Monday. Jhajjar lodged a complaint with the Sector 5 station. Birbal said that he had visited Yavanikaa Park to watch a Ramleela performance and parked his motorcycle securely behind Pallavi Hotel.After enjoying the show, Birbal returned to the parking area around 11:30 PM, only to find that his motorcycle was missing. Despite a thorough search of the area, he was unable to locate it.
The fourth complainant was identified as Ravi Dutt Sharma, a resident of Pinjore, who got his active worth Rs. 25k stolen from Sector 2 chowk on Monday. Sharma lodged a complaint at the Sector 5 police station, here. Ravi, who works in a pharmaceutical company in Derabassi, had parked his scooter near the temple at Sector II Chowk at approximately 8:30 AM before heading to work.
Upon returning from his shift, Ravi was shocked to discover that his scooter was missing from the parking spot. Despite searching for it on his own, Ravi found no trace of his vehicle.
The fifth complainant was identified as Gaurav Marwaha, a resident of Sector 26, who got his newly purchased Activa worth Rs. 25k stolen from the Sector 7 market, on Sunday. The complaint was filed at the Sector 7 station on Tuesday.
Gaurav had arrived at the Sector 7 market around noon for personal errands, riding his Activa. After parking the scooter behind Chaman Sweet, he set off to attend to his tasks. However, upon returning at approximately 1 PM, he was shocked to discover that his Activa was missing from the spot where he had left it.Gaurav’s efforts to locate his stolen scooter proved fruitless, prompting him to seek the police’s assistance.
The sixth complainant was identified as Nitish, a resident of Lal Quarter, here, who got his Honda Delux worth Rs. 12 k stolen from his home on Tuesday. He lodged a complaint with the Sector 14 station.
Upon further enquiry, the police said that further investigations are underway.
