Delhi Cong Slams Kejriwal’s Road Inspections As Election Gimmick

The Delhi unit of Congress has criticized the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for what it calls political theatrics ahead of the upcoming elections. Delhi Congress accused Kejriwal of manipulating the emotions of Delhiites through political stunts.

Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav, told The Daily Guardian, that Kejriwal’s recent focus on issues such as broken roads after resigning as Chief Minister was nothing more than a political ploy. He pointed out that Kejriwal showed no such concern when governance was paralyzed during his tenure, particularly when he clung to his post despite being jailed in connection with the liquor scam, which Yadav described as a gross misuse of office. Yadav further alleged that even after resigning, Kejriwal continued to enjoy the perks of the office, staying in the official CM residence and frequently appearing alongside the “dummy CM” Atishi.

Yadav also questioned why Kejriwal had neglected Delhi’s development over the past 10 years. He accused the AAP government of failing to maintain public infrastructure, such as roads, drains, and sewers, and criticized its lack of attention to vital services like drinking water supply, hospitals, schools, DTC services, and garbage removal. Yadav highlighted Kejriwal’s lack of response during the city’s waterlogging crisis, which resulted in over 40 deaths from drowning and electrocution. Instead, Kejriwal was preoccupied with political matters, such as suggesting Atishi’s name for the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony.

Yadav further argued that the AAP government has been ineffective not only for the past six months when Kejriwal was jailed, but for the entire decade of his leadership. He claimed Kejriwal’s main focus has been on corrupt deals, particularly in the liquor scam, which ultimately became his downfall. According to Yadav, the people of Delhi now recognize that only during Congress’s 15-year rule did the city witness substantial progress and development. He emphasized that both AAP and the BJP have failed to govern the city effectively, leaving the Delhi government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi unable to address the city’s pressing issues.
