Three individuals were apprehended in Gwalior following a police encounter early Tuesday morning, linked to the robbery of a local businessman. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. near Kheriya Mirdha village, within the jurisdiction of the Behta police outpost in Maharajpura.

Details of the Encounter and Arrests

The prime accused, Arun Chouhan, sustained a bullet wound in his left leg during the encounter and is currently receiving treatment at Jaya Arogya Hospital. The other two suspects, identified as Pramod Tomar and Chhotu Jatav, were also arrested without incident. All three individuals have previous criminal records involving serious offenses such as robbery, murder, and attempted murder.

The robbery occurred on Monday night when the suspects allegedly looted a jewelry businessman as he was leaving his shop in Kushwah Market. During the incident, the suspects fired shots at the victim and fled with a bag containing gold and cash. The entire event was captured on the shop’s CCTV cameras.

Police Response and Recovery Efforts

Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar Sagar reported that the crime branch and local police had initiated a manhunt following the robbery. Acting on tips from informants, police located the suspects near Kheriya Mirdha village. During the encounter, one of the accused fired at the police, prompting a retaliatory response.

The police successfully recovered the victim’s bag containing gold and cash, and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime, along with a firearm and ammunition. A reward of ₹10,000 had been announced for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.

The investigation is ongoing, and police confirmed that no officers were injured during the encounter. The complainant, Chahat Soni, who was shot during the robbery, is now stable and receiving medical care.
