Joe Biden Urges More Secret Service Support After Trump Assassination Attempt

Following the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, President Joe Biden stressed the need for more support for the US Secret Service. Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, September 15. Routh was found with an AK-47, a GoPro camera, and other suspicious items, raising concerns about the safety of the former president.

Speaking on Monday, September 16, Biden said, “The Secret Service needs more help, and I think the Congress should respond to their needs.” He also emphasized the importance of assessing whether more personnel are necessary to ensure proper protection.

Biden Relieved That Trump is Unharmed

Biden took to social media to express his relief, posting on X, “I am relieved that the former President is unharmed. There is no place for political violence in our country.” He also praised federal law enforcement for their efforts in apprehending the suspect and ensuring Trump’s safety.

Concerns About Inside Information

Former FBI assistant director Chris Swecker raised concerns about the possibility that Routh had access to inside information about Trump’s schedule, calling it a “scary” prospect. He described Routh as a “wingnut” with a hatred for authority, which has fueled more investigations into the suspect’s intentions.

Biden’s Push for More Resources

In addition to his comments, Biden has directed his team to ensure that the Secret Service has all necessary resources to continue protecting Trump. As investigations continue, Biden reiterated his stance against political violence and committed to enhancing security measures to prevent future incidents.
