In the aftermath of renewed violence, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) DIG Manish Kumar Sachar confirmed on Wednesday that the situation in Manipur is now fully under control. A day after clashes broke out, security forces have stepped up their efforts to curb unrest, giving a befitting response to miscreants.
Deployment of Forces: Ensuring Security Across Key Areas
According to Sachar, the CRPF, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police commandos have been stationed at Gamgiphai—the critical interstate checkpoint between the Kuki area of Kangpokpi district and the Meitei area of West Imphal. This deployment aims to prevent unauthorized entry of individuals and products into sensitive areas.
He further added, “Our forces are regularly conducting checks at this naka (checkpoint) to ensure safety. Small incidents on the outskirts are being handled with precision, and the miscreants are steadily losing ground.”
Internet Suspended Amid Fresh Violence: State Government’s Preventive Measures
In response to the situation, the state government has suspended internet services across Manipur until September 15. This step is aimed at controlling the spread of fake news and rumors, which have contributed to ongoing tensions. Manipur Police issued a public appeal urging peaceful protests and warned against circulating false information that could exacerbate the conflict.
Governor and Meghalaya CM Call for Peace and Intervention
Reacting to the escalating conflict, Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya expressed grave concern and called on all stakeholders to work towards establishing peace. Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma stressed the complexity of the situation, stating that the Government of India must intervene to seek a political solution and build confidence among the diverse communities of the state.
Sangma emphasized, “The conflict has deep-rooted historical complexities, and only the Government of India can create the necessary environment to bring all communities together on a common platform.”

Public Urged to Avoid Violence: Police Monitor Social Media for Fake News
On September 10, Manipur Police reiterated their call for peaceful demonstrations and warned citizens against engaging in violent protests. The police are actively monitoring social media platforms for fake news and have vowed to take legal action against those spreading false or sensitive information.
