To ramp up its election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a high-profile boost with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior ministers set to arrive in the Union Territory starting from September 8, according to party sources quoted by KNO, a local news agency.

Sources indicate that discussions are underway to finalise the exact date of Prime Minister Modi’s visit, which is expected to occur after September 10. “There might be a slight change in the schedule for PM Modi’s arrival in J&K, but the visit of top BJP ministers, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and party chief J P Nadda, among others, is 100 percent confirmed,” said the sources.

A senior BJP leader, speaking on the condition of anonymity, mentioned that PM Modi might come to J&K to campaign during the second phase of the elections. “While some ministers may visit J&K before September 10, most are likely to arrive after September 10. PM Modi is expected to address two rallies—one in Jammu and another in Kashmir. The dates are currently being finalized,” the leader added.

The visits by top BJP leaders come as the party intensifies its efforts to gain a stronger foothold in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the assembly elections. The elections in J&K are scheduled to be conducted in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with the vote counting set for October 8.
