The Zepto Journey

Zepto, a quick commerce app, was co-founded by Vohra and his 22-year-old friend, Aadit Palicha. Both were students at Stanford University before deciding to drop out and pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. They launched Zepto in 2021, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to meet the increasing demand for quick and contactless delivery of essential items.

In just a few years, Zepto has become a significant player in India’s highly competitive grocery delivery market, going head-to-head with giants like Amazon India, Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, and Tata Group’s BigBasket.

Kaivalya Vohra first appeared on the IIFL Wealth-Hurun India Rich List in 2022 at the age of 19, marking his debut as one of India’s youngest and wealthiest entrepreneurs. His consistent presence on the list since then reflects Zepto’s success and his growing influence in the business world.

The 2024 Hurun India Rich List has set a new record, with over 300 billionaires making the cut for the first time. This year’s list includes a diverse group of individuals from various sectors, showcasing the dynamic nature of India’s economy.

Gautam Adani and his family have secured the top spot on the list with a wealth of ₹11.6 lakh crore, overtaking Mukesh Ambani. Adani’s wealth has surged by an astonishing 95% over the past year, bouncing back strongly after facing scrutiny following the Hindenburg report.

Celebrities and Tech Giants Join the Elite Club

Notably, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has also found a place on the list, reinforcing his status as one of India’s most successful and wealthiest celebrities. Additionally, Radha Vembu, founder of Zoho Corporation, and Anand Chandrasekaran, a seasoned tech executive, are among the new entrants to this exclusive group.
