A recent viral photo of actor Darshan, currently imprisoned in Bengaluru on murder charges, has sparked controversy. The image, showing Darshan smoking a cigarette and surrounded by three others on a lawn, raised questions about the conditions of his incarceration.
Following this, a video has emerged depicting Darshan on a phone call. In the 25-second clip, which the source has not independently verified, Darshan is seen in a well-lit room with large curtains and clothes hanging on hooks. He cheerfully waves at the camera and engages in a brief conversation with another person, who asks if he has eaten.
Darshan, along with 16 others, including his friend and fellow actor Pavithra Gowda, is in judicial custody related to the murder of his fan, Renukaswamy. The fan was reportedly killed after allegedly sending inappropriate messages to Gowda. His body was discovered near a stormwater drain in Bengaluru on June 9.
The recent photo showing Darshan with gangster Wilson Garden Naga and his manager has fueled speculation about special privileges inside the jail. The authorities have been instructed to investigate these claims.
Renukaswamy’s father has called for a CBI inquiry, expressing disbelief over the perceived comfort of Darshan’s situation. He emphasized that the jail should not feel like a resort and demanded that Darshan be treated like any other prisoner.
