Tripura Floods: NDRF Evacuates 125, IAF Drops Over 4,000 Food Packets

In a significant rescue operation, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) evacuated 125 individuals from flood-hit regions of Tripura on Friday evening. According to officials, 11 NDRF teams have been deployed across the state to carry out rescue and relief missions.

On August 24, the Indian Air Force (IAF) announced that its helicopters had air-dropped over 4,000 food packets to locals stranded in disaster-affected areas. The IAF shared on X, “#IAF Mi-17 and ALH helicopters continue relentless efforts in Tripura flood relief operations, with NDRF personnel inducted into disaster-struck areas.” The relief operations have airlifted 28 tons of material to assist flood victims in regions like Rangamati, Jatanbari, Udaipur, and others.

On August 23, the NDRF reported via X, “In today’s rescue operations, NDRF rescuers evacuated 125 people and retrieved one deceased in Karbook and Amarpur of Gomti, Sepahijala, and Khowai areas.”

Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha will chair an all-party meeting on Saturday to assess the ongoing flood situation. Earlier, he assured citizens that the situation was under control and expressed gratitude to the central government for its assistance.

According to the latest data, 24 people have died, two were injured, and two others remain missing due to the floods. The state has also suffered extensive damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and livestock. Since August 19, 558 relief camps have been established to aid affected citizens.
