The Maharashtra government celebrated the 58th and 59th Maharashtra State Film Awards on August 21, recognizing outstanding contributions to Indian cinema and television. The prestigious event, held at Dome SVP Stadium in Worli, Mumbai, was graced by several notable personalities from the film and television industry, as well as key political figures.

Asha Parekh, one of Bollywood’s most influential and successful actresses of the past, was awarded the Late Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award for her remarkable contribution to Indian cinema. Known for her iconic roles in classic films, Parekh’s career has left an indelible mark on Bollywood.

Shivaji Satam, the beloved ACP Pradyuman from the long-running TV show CID, was honored with the Chitrapati V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award. Satam’s portrayal of the no-nonsense detective has made him a household name and a beloved figure in Indian television.

Special Contribution Awards Recognize Film and Music Industry Stalwarts

The Chitrapati V Shantaram Special Contribution Award was presented to filmmaker and actor Digpal Lanjekar for his significant contributions to the Marathi film industry. Meanwhile, the Late Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award was given to N Chandra, acknowledging his influence and work in Indian cinema.

Veteran singer Anuradha Paudwal received the Lata Mangeshkar Award, honoring her illustrious career and contributions to Indian music. The event also recognized actress Rohini Hattangadi and singer Sudesh Bhosle for their impactful work in films and music, further highlighting the diverse talent in the industry.

Dignitaries and Celebrities Gather to Celebrate Excellence in Cinema

The awards ceremony saw the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar. Other dignitaries included Sudhir Mungantiwar, the cultural affairs minister; Deepak Kesarkar, the education minister; and Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the minister of skills, employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

Prominent political figures such as Rajya Sabha members Milind Deora and Imran Pratapgarhi, along with Members of Parliament Arvind Sawant and Anil Desai, were also in attendance. Legislative Council Members and MLAs were present, adding to the event’s grandeur.
