On Wednesday, Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in New Delhi as part of the “Know BJP” initiative. Prime Minister Ibrahim is on a three-day state visit to India, marking his first official visit since assuming office.

Vijay Chauthaiwale, BJP’s overseas in-charge, emphasized that the meeting between Nadda and Ibrahim is aimed at enhancing interaction between the BJP and Malaysia’s ruling party. Chauthaiwale stated, “The meeting of BJP President Shri JP Nadda with the visiting Prime Minister of Malaysia is a significant step under the ‘Know BJP’ initiative, aimed at strengthening ties between our parties.”

During the meeting, Nadda and Ibrahim exchanged valuable insights to bolster party-to-party relations and deepen mutual understanding. Nadda highlighted the discussions on X, noting, “Honored to meet and engage with HE Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, in New Delhi as part of the ‘Know BJP’ initiative. We discussed ways to strengthen our party-to-party relations and advance our shared vision for a robust partnership that supports mutual growth and cooperation.”

The conversation focused on enhancing bilateral relations through increased delegation exchanges. The leaders reviewed the progress made in India-Malaysia relations over the past decade and explored further collaboration in areas such as education, employment, and Ayurveda. Both Nadda and Ibrahim agreed on the importance of fostering a deeper partnership by facilitating exchanges between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Malaysia’s People’s Justice Party.

Nadda was accompanied by Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, who heads the BJP’s Foreign Affairs Department. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit is part of a broader effort to strengthen diplomatic and political ties between India and Malaysia, following an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
