Heavy rainfall has prompted the Delhi Police to advise commuters to steer clear of Rohtak Road. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a generally cloudy sky is expected throughout the day, with intermittent rain showers likely.

The IMD reported that certain parts of the city experienced scattered light rain, while areas in north, southwest, west, central, and southeast Delhi witnessed moderate to intense downpours. Specifically, West Delhi’s Pitampura recorded 57mm of rain between 5:30 am and 7:45 am, followed closely by Delhi University with 55.5mm and Najafgarh with 34.5mm. Narela and Lodhi Road registered 15.5mm and 15mm of rainfall, respectively, during the same period.

An IMD official stated that localized rainfall is expected to persist throughout the day, with light showers anticipated in various parts of the city.

The heavy rainfall caused significant traffic disruptions in areas like Najafgarh Phirni Road, Kashmere Gate, ISBT, Ashram, and ITO due to water accumulation. August has been unusually wet for Delhi, with rain recorded every day except August 3. So far, the city has logged 240.2mm of rainfall this month, marking the wettest August since 2013, when 321.4mm was recorded. The IMD has forecasted that light rain will continue to be scattered across the city for the remainder of the week.
