Uttarakhand: District In-Charge Inspects Kedar Valley Projects Following Heavy Rains

Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, District In-Charge and Char Dham Yatra Secretary R Rajesh Kumar conducted a field inspection of ongoing projects in the Kedar Valley, which has been affected by recent heavy rains.

During his visit, Kumar reviewed the condition of the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund National Highway and directed officials to expedite repair work. He was accompanied by officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), the National Highway Division, and the Irrigation Department.

The inspection focused on the damaged stretch of the highway between Km 72 and Km 75, where earth movers were actively engaged in repairs. Kumar emphasized the need for swift action and highlighted the importance of identifying additional areas prone to landslides that could pose future risks.

National Highway officials informed Kumar that a proposal had been submitted to THDC India Limited to fortify vulnerable sections of the route. Kumar instructed that the most sensitive locations be prioritized within this proposal.

Kumar also assessed the work being done by the Irrigation Department along both sides of the Son River in Sonprayag. He stated that work on the left bank of the river would commence within one to two days, while repairs on the right bank should begin immediately. Additionally, he inspected the Sitapur parking area and plans to discuss further measures with the district and police administrations.

Kumar assured that all necessary assistance from the state government would be provided to ensure the smooth execution of these critical infrastructure projects.
