Trump Rally Shooting Victim David Dutch Issues First Statement Over Assassination Attempt

David Dutch, one of the supporters injured in the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, has issued a statement for the first time since being discharged from the hospital. Dutch, a 57-year-old Marine, was struck by gunfire during Trump’s campaign rally in Philadelphia, sustaining wounds to his chest and liver. Initially placed in a medically-induced coma, Dutch has since begun his recovery and expressed his deep gratitude for the support he has received.

In a statement released through his lawyer, Dutch thanked the public for their well-wishes and acknowledged the efforts of the medical team at Allegheny General Hospital, as well as the police and life flight crew who played crucial roles in his care. He and his wife, Sheree, also extended their condolences to the family of Corey Comperatore, who tragically lost his life while protecting his loved ones during the attack. The Dutch family also offered prayers for James Copenhaver, another supporter who was wounded and is currently recovering in a rehabilitation facility.

David Dutch praised Donald Trump for his unwavering commitment to his mission despite the attack. Dutch and Copenhaver, both severely injured in the incident, have engaged legal representation to ensure their interests are protected as they navigate this difficult period.

The attack, carried out by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, resulted in the death of 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a volunteer firefighter. The FBI continues to investigate Crooks’ motives behind the shooting.
